OpenAI’s Annualized Revenue Run Rate Nears $70 Billion: Report

OpenAI’s annualized revenue run rate is nearing $70 billion, with enterprise sales more than doubling since July, according to an Axios report published Tuesday that cited sources familiar with the company’s financials.
The ChatGPT maker’s annualized revenue run rate has increased by more than 70% since the start of the third quarter, the report said. The figure reflects a short-term revenue pace projected over a full year rather than audited annual revenue.
OpenAI’s business-to-business revenue has grown by more than 100% since July, according to Axios. On the consumer side, the company generated more revenue during the third quarter than it added across all of 2025, the report said.
The figures point to continued growth in demand for OpenAI’s AI products from both businesses and individual users. However, the revenue estimates come from sources familiar with the company’s finances and do not provide a publicly disclosed, audited breakdown of its current revenue.
The latest figures come as OpenAI and rival AI company Anthropic prepare for potential public offerings, which could eventually provide investors with greater visibility into their revenues, costs and financial performance.
Reuters noted that an annualized revenue run rate can sometimes give a distorted picture of a company’s financial trajectory because it extrapolates revenue from a shorter period across an entire year.
OpenAI’s ability to sustain the recent increase in enterprise and consumer revenue will become clearer as the company reports additional financial information. The current $70 billion figure remains a reported annualized run rate rather than a confirmed full-year revenue result.
