UAE and US Meet to Discuss Sudan Crisis Sheikh Abdullah & US Advisor in Talk

What we knew: Massad Boulos, Advisor to the US President for African and Arab Affairs, met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, to discuss the tragic civil war that took place in Sudan.
Responsible to end the crisis in the region, the two sides exchanged views on the enhancement of regional and international efforts to achieve this goal in a way that respects the protection of civilians and allows the free flow of humanitarian aid. In response to the activities of the USA under the leadership of President Donald Trump paving the way for safety and peaceful conditions in Sudan, Sheikh Abdullah lauded the US endeavors. The UAE has reiterated its commitment to a politically driven, civilian-led process as the way-out of the crisis with a firm call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
Minister of State for International Cooperation, UAE, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy and Minister of State, Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan also attended the meeting.
What this essentially conveys: The US and the UAE are united in their approach to the Sudan crisis. They focus on political dialogue, civilian leadership and humanitarian access as the main priorities and not only as a side of the military strategy.
Why it is important: The war in Sudan has been a major cause of suffering for the people. The strong relationship and coordination between powerful states as the United Arab Emirates and the United States can be instrumental in bringing the conflict to an end and providing relief to the affected civilians.
The gist of it: The first tier meeting, unambiguous communication, and an emphasis on the need for the civilian-led solutions. The UAE and US are synchronizing their efforts to make peace in Sudan possible.
